Hypnotherapy has long been used by people looking to lose weight. In this article I will be looking at:

- How Being a Loser Makes you a Winner
- Hypnotherapy and Weight Loss
- BWRT® and Weight Loss
- Slim via Hypnosis
Obesity is a Big Issue.
Fat isn’t just a feminist issue – it is a global one. For you right now it could be the single most important issue in your life!
Obesity can be defined by having a BMI (Body Mass Index) of over 30. According to that definition 63% of adults in Britain are overweight, with more than a third of children under the age of 15 also falling into that category. Park that thought for a moment.
Your Body Mass Index is calculated by dividing your weight by the square of your height:
BMI = W/H2 . If you have seen your GP recently they might have asked about your weight and height in order to calculate your BMI because it is an indicator of health problems that you could run into. Your BMI can tell you if you are too heavy, but it cannot tell if you carrying an excess of fat, bone, or muscle.
This is important because BMI for adults doesn’t take into account age or gender or muscle mass and therefore a very muscular person might be classed as overweight even though their body weight is low, whilst a person who has lost muscle mass might fall into the healthy weight range even though carrying excess fat.
Therefore you should speak to your GP about weight loss/management before beginning therapy or a new fitness regime.
That aside BMI is considered to be a simple way of assessing weight and general health.
If your BMI score is:
- Less than 18.5 = Underweight
- Between 18.5 & 24.9 = Healthy Weight
- Between 25 – 29.9 = Overweight
- Over 30 = Obese
Use this tool to calculate your BMI and discover whether you are a healthy weight, overweight or obese.

- are a man and your waist is 37ins (94cm) or more,

Use this chart to see whether you fall within healthy limits.

Being a Loser Makes you a Winner
So now you have read a little about the serious health issues associated with being over-weight you can see now that being a loser and keeping to a healthy weight is essential for your well-being.
By losing weight you not only enjoy the benefits of reducing your risk of heart, kidney and/or liver disease, reduce your risk of stroke, arthritis and some cancers but you could also find your self with
- greater confidence
- improved body image
- increased sex drive
- better erections
- a greater sense of well-being
- improved mobility
- better sleep
- better choice of clothes – this might sound superficial, but looking good is often very important part of life or you.
Losing weight – like renovating your house whilst living in it – is not something you can do overnight. Nor should you try to. Making a big change can seem daunting and unmanageable but smaller steps are less intimidating and more achievable and help you to increase your confidence in your ability to lose and maintain weight.
According to WebMD just loosing 5% of your body weight can bring about amazing health benefits.
For a 200lb person a 5% loss equals a loss of 10lbs. Losing those 10lbs relieves your joints of FORTY POUNDS of pressure on your joints which can have quite an impact on pain from injuries or arthritis!
It lowers the chances of developing some cancers by 12%.
According to Weight Watchers by losing just 10% of your body weight you will lower your blood-pressure, help your body to use insulin more effectively, and reduce your cholesterol.
Hypnotherapy and Weight Loss in Essex
Hypnotherapy does not relieve you of the role you play in your weight loss or management. I cannot lose the weight for you. For any weight loss programme to work you need to really want to lose weight and it is important that you do it for YOU more than for anyone else.
If you don’t feel all that great about yourself then the strength of your will and motivation will be lower and your chances of success will be lowered – but I can help you overcome certain obstacles making your weight loss that little bit easier.
There is so much more to weight loss than simply reducing food intake and increasing exercise. It can be a complicated and sensitive journey – particularly where there are health problems like polycystic ovaries or emotional trauma that lead to eating issues, and issues of low self worth.
Sometimes it might be necessary to overcome feelings of shame or guilt, to deal with bereavement or the effects of bullying as preparation for weight loss to get you feeling better about yourself and in the right frame of mind for losing weight.
Therapy whether hypnotherapy or BWRT® can help you to slim down and manage weight in a number of ways
- by uncovering the emotional and psychological agendas and motives for weight gain or staying heavy,
- by defusing the drivers behind comfort eating, bingeing and bad eating habits
- and by helping to address issue that make wake loss harder to achieve.

Slim via Hypnosis in Essex
There are so many weight loss programmes using hypnotherapy available that anyone would be confused by them.
In a sense it is often as case of you pay your money and you take your choice no one can guarantee an outcome, and to be perfectly honest with you it would be unethical to promise results that are dependent upon so many variables.
Whilst there are a lot of weight loss programs out there, I wouldn’t use the quick fix ones. But here in my Chigwell practice as a certified Slim via Hypnosis Practitioner I have good reasons for using this.
First of all I know the therapists who developed this approach and know them to be honest, and scrupulous professionals.
Second. Slim via Hypnosis is the culmination of 18 years of working with real people, dropping what doesn’t work and refining what gets the results clients want.
Third. It takes into account your overall health and any medical conditions you tell me about.
Fourth. It is a structured programme that takes place on a weekly basis. One session each week for four weeks. during which you will be assisted with:
- altering your beliefs about weight loss
- motivation
- goal setting
- suggestion therapy
- uncovering emotional drivers
- confidence building
- ego building
- printed material to support you between sessions
- free CDs/audio downloads to support you between sessions and after.
