What is Hypnotherapy?
Everyone has experienced hypnosis of some kind, whether when daydreaming, reading a book, watching TV, or listening to music.
Hypnosis is a focussed state of mind that gives access to your subconscious mind to bring about changes in thoughts, feelings and behaviour – empowering you to become the person you want to be. Hypnotherapy puts you in control of your life.
Whereas counselling and other “talking cures” use psychological techniques alone, hypnotherapy is distinctive in that it addresses your unconscious mind directly using a variety of approaches which may include trance, story-telling, WSN, past life regression, or suggestion therapy. Change can thereby occur in a comparatively should period of time.

Can I be Hypnotised?
YES! Hypnosis is something that every healthy person has experienced at some point in their daily lives. Some researchers have claimed that we can spend up to 15 hours per day in a state of hypnosis.
Everyone can be hypnotised. If you can daydream, you can be hypnotised. If you have ever experienced a journey, perhaps by car and reached your destination not really aware of all the turns you made, all the lights you stopped at, then you can be hypnotised.
We all have the ability to go into hypnosis, but sometimes and in certain situations it is more difficult to achieve and so I will help you to develop your talent so you can use self-hypnosis whenever you need to.
Change can occur in quite light hypnotic states as well and in deep trance, and use a variety of techniques which suit your needs whether it is trance work or conversational hypnosis.

WSN or Warriors Settlers and Nomads is both a system for understanding and profiling personality, and for doing therapy!
It helps me to identity and use the best approaches for working with you toward the change you require. There are three levels of WSN. I am the first therapist to have archived certification in the highest level of WSN – WSN Extra.
Just as there are three primary colours which combined give us all the colours we can see, so WSN works with 3 parts of the personality that contribute to your overall character. We call the parts your Warrior, your Settler and your Nomad. and whilst it might sound extremely simplistic, it is actually more sophisticated than there is room in this blog post to explain. You could understand your Warrior, your settler or your Nomad as your Firm, Friendly or Fun part. Or as your Controlling, Caring and Charismatic part if that helps.
However simplicity is not only attractive it is also very useful. When you begin to understand these parts within yourself, you can immediately begin to piece together a much better understanding and appreciation of yourself, who you are and why you experience the world and others as you do. You can even become aware of why others see you differently to the way yourself.

Self-understanding can lead to self acceptance and from there to greater self-esteem and confidence. WSN 3 – The Highest Level.
I was thrilled to become the first therapist to become a certified Level 3 WSN practitioner. This third and highest level of Warriors, Settlers & Nomads, takes the original concept the ultimate level.
In addition to working with the three basic personality types, and nine subtypes, WSN 3 practitioners also work with the most fundamental drivers of human behaviour that create three fundamental types: Type A (Threat Recogniser), Type B (Fairness Focused) and Type C (Ultimate Survivor) respectively.
Now I can help my clients with greater accuracy! How? Well, now we can take the cognitive approach of WSN and BWRT® to create a powerful combination therapy. Furthermore, it takes account of the way your cerebellum works. This part of your brain is the “first responder” to anything stimulus you experience. Integral Eye Movement Therapy (IEMT)

What is IEMT?
At my hypnotherapy practice in Chigwell, East London, I see many clients with issues of anxiety, anger, stress PTSD, and trauma to name but a few.
One of the most effective therapies for these problems is IEMT.
IEMT is a way of dealing with troubling memories, intrusive thoughts, and unwanted emotions. It is particularly useful in cases of PTSD and can bring about amazing results in as few as two sessions.
How does IEMT work?
You’ve heard the saying “you’ll see things differently in the morning” or “Sleep on it before you make a decision”, and “you’ll feel better after a goodnight’s sleep”. It isn’t the time between going to sleep and waking that makes the difference to the issue in hand – it is what you do when you are asleep that makes the difference.
When you go to sleep your brain goes through several “cycles” and one of them is REM sleep. REM stands for Rapid Eye Movement. You can tell when someone is in the REM cycle of their sleep because their eyes move back and forth behind closed eyelids. No one quite understands – yet – exactly what is happening. But is seems that a sort of mental and emotional housekeeping is taking place. Things you have experienced through the day are processed, filed away and understood. Memories and things you have learned are consolidated and encoded. Things you did not understand obtain some perspective.
When using IEMT I direct your eyes in specific ways so as to allow that processing of thoughts, emotions, memories to take place. This often means that old problems are suddenly updated with greater understanding.
IEMT is Straightforward
IEMT is very straightforward in the hands of the skilled practitioner and it looks deceptively easy.
For you IEMT sessions could quite easily be the easiest therapy sessions you will experience. Be under no illusions a practitioner like me can be direct, provocative, even blunt at times. However – and this is the beauty of IEMT – we do not have to spend hours talking about stuff you’ve already talked about or gone over before. And let’s face it, if talking about – how many times is it now? – hasn’t helped it’s likely that something else will be needed.
What happens during and appointment?
Hopefully you will have fun. My clients usually smile and laugh a lot. Hopefully you will also leave feeling like a weight has been lifted, feel freer, more able to think clearly. You might also suddenly obtain some insights into the old problem.
As soon as you arrive for an IEMT session I will begin working. Once you have seen how I am going to work I’ll tell you a bit about myself, if I haven’t already given you that information. Then I will ask you to tell me what you want me to do for you, how you want to be helped and how you want to change. You might arrive with the idea that you need to sit and tell me every single thing about the problem as you see it. However, I will have already demonstrated how little information I need from you, and therefore, once I have had enough information to begin working I will begin. There is no point dragging out the process of you feeling better! Let’s get started!
Where does IEMT come from?
There is the short answer and there is the long answer. The short answer is that IEMT was developed by Andrew T. Austin out of the work done by Dr Connirae Andreas with EMI. EMI or Eye Movement Integration was her NLP version of EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprogramming). Steve and Connirae Andreas considered EMI to be gentler and more effective than EMDR. They now fully endorse the both the work of Andrew Austin and his method of IEMT.
