7 Ways to Prepare for Online Therapy

by | Apr 24, 2020 | Therapy

Hello and welcome.

In this article I will explain a little about how to prepare yourself for therapy on line.  It is really quite easy.

As well as offering Hypnotherapy in Chigwell in person, I have always conducted therapy sessions using Skype, FaceTime and Zoom.

Hypnotherapy via video conferencing or social media apps is just as effective in person. In fact, virtually all of the techniques and interventions that I use transfer perfectly from the therapy room to on-line working.

For example:

What you can see from the image above is that most of the techniques, approaches and interventions used in person – can also be used in a video call.

It is very simple, but there are one or two things that you might need to consider.

1st – You will need to be able to find a place and time where you will not be disturbed for the duration of the session.
2nd – You will need to switch off your mobile phone, and close social media apps like WhatApp, Facebook and anything else that might distract you with notifications.
3rd – If there are others in the building, you will need to know that you can speak as freely as if you were in my therapy room.
4th – You will need to tell others that you must not be disturbed for the duration of the session. This might mean arranging childcare.
5th – If your internet is flakey it is a good idea to turn off any devices that might be connected to your wifi to ensure best signal.
6th – You will provide me with a telephone number in case the connection drops and the name of someone who I can call should you require it.
7th – Test your microphone and speakers before the session.

I have worked with clients from their kitchens, hotel rooms and offices.  I have worked with clients via their mobile telephones whilst they are parked up in a garage, park or lay-by.
It is extremely simple and convenient.

How To Pay for Online Therapy

This is very simple.  Payment can be via BACS, iZettle or Paypal. It is best to pay for the session in advance.  A receipt can be sent should you require it.

Support Between On-line Therapy Sessions

You get the same support.  You can call or email me and I’ll get back to you ASAP.  I also email out any “homework” materials or audio recordings that you might need using WeTransfer, Apple MailDrop or DropBox.  WeTransfer tends to be easiest for most clients.
